Insurance Medical Card

Yesterday, I slipped in the toilet and fall down. My head knocked seriously on the hard floor. Obviously, it bleed but mine is more from that. There was a cut on my right forehead. I was sent to the local private hospital and got sewn on the cut. My family scare there might be some unforeseen damage in the inner part of my brain. Therefore, I went for a CT scan ( some sort of high tech scanning instrument). Luckily there was no inner damage to my brain. Phewww….

The total bill came out was RM480. RM100+ is for sewing the cut and RM300+ is for the scan. The moment the bill comes out, I was terrified. How on earth can a low income people or even middle income people can afford it. RM500 means whole month salary for a low income group!

Luckily (or should not say so, because I had planned about it), I can claim the bills from the insurance company. I bought my medical card from Prudential 9 months ago, in April 2009. Sum assured is RM1,000,000 and monthly premium is RM204. I bought it earlier because I know I will use it anytime in the future. I don’t no when I will get into accident, so it is a protection in term of wealth for me.

Another thing to mention is an small accident in the toilet can cause around RM500, what if major illness such as kidney failure, road accident or cancer? I can’t imagine on how to pay it by your monthly salary or hard saved money. If you still haven’t own one, go and grab one.
