PTPTN Exemption For First Class Honor
In Budget 2010 announced on 23 Oct 2009, graduates who pass with first class honor will have their PTPTN loan waived. First class honor graduates do not need to pay back the loan again.
What a good news to the first year students to study hard to have their PTPTN waived. Government intends to reward students who excel in their studies. I wish I would have this reward too during my university time so that I will double my effort to get good results. At least there are a goal for me to achieve.
Only degree holders and higher learning center that are accredited by the National Accreditation Board (LAN) are eligible for the exemption. Another criteria for exemption is student must fully sponsored by PTPTN are eligible for it.
Degree undergraduate usually borrow RM10k to RM30K of loan during their university time. This sum usually will be a burden for a fresh graduate right after they start working. Most postgraduates finish their repayment in the range of three to ten years depend on your monthly repayment.
Therefore, it will be nice to have PTPTN waived after graduate so that you will be deft free. You can find more information about PTPTN exemption here.

hi,
some people say those who’re going to graduate this year and onwards are eligible for the loan exemption. but according to what i read it in the link you mentioned(http://www.ptptn.gov.my/web/english/FAQ-english/repayment/exemption) it says that only borrowers whose loan are approved before 1 July 2005 are eligible. i’m graduating next year march and i entered uni in july 2007. i wonder whether i’m eligible for it. tq for answering my question.
